PORTRAIT SESSIONS

I love taking portraits because I can really get creative in telling your story. A portrait should really show off your personality and style, and that is exactly what I try to capture.
How to plan/what to expect
- Try to schedule your photo shoot at least 2 weeks in advance. That will give me some time to get to know you/your child/your family/your fiance to help select a location for the photo shoot.
- Portrait sessions can last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. I will be mindful of small children and their attention span and will of course try to make it fun for them.
- If you are taking photos of the children, they will behave a lot better after a nap/snack.
- Think of me as a friend coming along with you for an outing… I’ll have my camera and follow you around while you do your thing. I may occasionally guide you, but I really just want you to be yourself so I can capture that in a photo!
- I will take pictures of however many people you like – please just let me know ahead of time if there will be a large group so I can prepare.
- Images will be ready 1-2 weeks after our session. We can then set up a time to view the images together and/or I will provide an online gallery which will be available for viewing/ordering for 30 days.
What to wear/bring/provide
- I am a lifestyle photographer- I have no intentions to make you or your loved ones into something you’re not, so please wear something that is “you”! Don’t be afraid of pattern or color!
- If you’re taking pictures as a family or a couple, don’t think you have to be matchy matchy. Different shades/patterns of the same color family look awesome, as do a mixture of bright colors. If you want to know if something will work, just ask!
- For children, anything goes! A favorite outfit, baby legs, little shoes, diaper covers, tutus for girls, hats, hair accessories -WHATEVER!
- I LOVE props! Since your photography session will be all about YOU, don’t be afraid to bring a few things that make you or your family who you are. A favorite quilt, a picnic basket, bikes, musical instruments, toys, even furniture! The sky is the limit- be creative! I once photographed a family who had 7 children- 6 of who played the violin. (the 7th was still a baby). They all brought their violins and it was awesome!
- I also have a few things I can bring as props too, so don’t be surprised if I pull something fun out during the shoot!
- With all that being said, I am more than happy to offer suggestions on what I feel looks best in photographs, so just ask!
