Ronald McDonald House Charities and Little T

A few months ago, I was thinking about how blessed I was to be a photographer. I love what I do. I love that I can create something that other people will love too, and cherish. As I was thinking about all this, I wondered what I could do to give back. I wanted to share my talent with people who deserved something nice at a difficult time in their lives. As I thought about it more, I decided I would contact the local Ronald McDonald House to see what I could do for them. I got in touch with Kelly Hamilton, who is in charge of volunteer services. It was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I have already made some great new friends and met so many incredible strong people. Tonight I went over to meet the families staying at the house and introduced myself. WOW. These families are amazing. I would strongly encourage everyone I know to volunteer or help this wonderful charity organization. They do some incredible stuff for some very deserving people. If you would like to volunteer by making dinner for the families who are staying at the house or would like to inquire about other ways to help, please contact Kelly Hamilton. Her number is 859-368-8437. I promise there is nothing better for the soul than helping others.

While there, I also got to take pictures of little T, the Executive Director’s little boy. Man was he CUTE. ALL BOY, I tell you. Down to little scrapes and bruises on his elbows and knees. And he was so smart too! I couldn’t get over his cuteness.

And while you’re at it, check out this very touching slideshow put together by a very talented and very nice local photographer Shaun Ring who photographed the Ronald McDonald House 25th Anniversary Party.

Kelly Hamilton - Marissa! You are the BEST! The shots of T are great (as I knew they would be) and thanks so much for the wonderful SHOUT OUT! I’ve never worked anywhere like the RMH and am so proud to be able to say I’m part of it — I’m glad you feel the same!

Also, I have a new phone number for anyone interested and reading your comments: 859-368-8437 –this is my DIRECT line.

Thanks SO much! Kelly Hamilton

Sarah - Marissa…it was so much fun meeting you last night! These pictures of T made me smile so wide my jaws ache. He was so at ease with you and had so much fun playing while you snapped the photos. (Now why can’t he act like that at home…LOL.) I can not wait to see the rest!! Wow! I especially want to thank you for the lovely mention about the Ronald McDonald House. What truly makes the House special is folks like you who selflessly give their time, talent and donations to keep our doors open to help families who are in the midst of their child’s medical crisis. The House could not exist without that kindness and each day we operate on the faith that people will continue to come forward to help. Thank you!

Nikki Montgomery - The RM house is an awesome program. My little sis had a brain tumor when she in grade school and I along with my mom and grandma stayed at one of their houses near the hospital since we couldn’t afford a hotel. It really is an awesome program and they do so much to help people out. I think it’s a wonderful thing you are doing Marrissa and kudos for telling others about this wonderful opportunity.

Kasey - This is wonderful! Isn’t it amazing how whenever we try to ‘give back’ we end up getting so much more in return. It makes you wonder why we don’t pay it forward more often….
