In March of 2008 my husband came home with the best birthday present ever- a new camera. I have always loved photography and often talked about how I would love to be a photographer. The birth of my daughter seemed like the perfect opportunity to get me started on that hobby, and a new fancy camera was the perfect birthday gift. I spent a lot of time learning how to use my camera and took LOTS AND LOTS of pictures of my little baby model Joselyn. Me and that camera were just meant to be.
Fast forward to this past Summer. After a lot of encouragement from friends and family who really believed in me, I did something crazy. I bought a domain name- www.marissanoephotography.com. After that, everything else just fell into place as I decided to take a risk by investing in opening a real photography business. My vision was to have a very personal and honest relationship with my clients. I strived for relaxed photography sessions that didn’t put pressure on clients to pose or be someone they were not.
Through each newborn session, wedding, engagement photos and family portraits my love for photography grew and grew. I am not the best with words- but I would love to try and explain why it is that I love what I do SO VERY MUCH. I love watching the newly engaged couples cuddle and steal kisses. I love the soft embraces full of emotion. My heart just about bursts when I see the happy faces of the newly married couple. I recall my wedding day every time and remember the sweetness of the day- and wish I could do it all over again. But wait- being there as a photographer and getting to capture every single detail of a couple’s wedding day kind of IS like reliving my wedding day. I love the sweet feeling that washes over me as I watch new parents interact with their perfect little newborns. Every newborn I meet brings a new sense of hope for the future into my life. They are so so precious. I cry just about every time one of those new parents gently place their little one in my arms. I love watching families laugh and play together and being able to laugh and play WITH them. I love watching the young children explore this new world they are in- finding leaves bigger than their faces and getting to see horses up close for the first time. I love meeting my high school seniors- they are always so nice to little ‘ole me and we have so much fun during our sessions. I wasn’t particularly prepared for the outpouring of faith in my skills.
So to make a kind of long story short, I just want to say Thank You. Thank you to my sweet husband for believing in my talent enough to invest a little money into it. Thanks to all my friends and family who let me “practice” on them. And thanks to all of you- my wonderful clients- for believing in me and letting me be there to capture you just the way you are. I seriously love every moment more than you even can imagine.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and check back on Black Friday for something fun!!
