Real Life Radio

A few months ago I recieved the sweetest e-mail from Leo Brown, General Manager of 1380 AM Real Life Radio.  After talking to his friend Sarah Warner from The Ronald Mcdonald House here in Lexington (where I volunteer taking pictures for the families), he visited my blog here.  I hope he won’t mind me sharing his words… they meant a lot to me:

“Your work is amazing. You are gifted beyond my ability to compliment. I just want to affirm you in what your doing. You have found your calling. ”

Isn’t that sweet? Words like those reaffirm my decision to start this business and add to the love I have for it.  It’s one thing to love what you’re doing- it’s even better when other people are touched by what you do.

A few weeks later, Leo contacted me and asked me to take some candid shots at the station and of course I was delighted! It’s already been such a great experience working with all the wonderful people at Real Life Radio. As I was taking pictures of Leo during his show on Thursday, he asked if he could talk to me and ask me a few questions- ON AIR! I’ve never really been interviewed before, but I had fun and Leo once again had some very sweet things to say. What an honor. Please visit their website and see what they have to offer- and don’t forget to become their fan on facebook too!! And stay tuned for some pictures from their radio broadcasts! I should be getting my new computer REALLY SOON!!!

February 7, 2010 - 3:28 am Andrea - Wow! That is so GREAT! I am really happy for you and agree with everything he said!

Technical Difficulties…

As I was packing up to come home to Kentucky, I took a little break to get on my laptop. I then smelled something burning… and so decided that I should probably give the computer a rest. Well, the next day I started noticing that it wouldn’t charge… and so by the end of the day there was no power left, and I had to way to charge it. When I got back to Kentucky, I took it in to the Geek Squad and we figured out it was probably the motherboard. Instead of paying lots of money to fix a computer I am not 100% happy with anyway, my husband and I decided we would invest in a nicer and faster computer! In the meantime, however, I am without a computer to call my own. Rest assured all photographs are safe. However, please bare with me if you are waiting for a sneak peek or are waiting for your photos to be finished/ordered. Unfortunately, my husband’s computer (which I have been using every chance I can get) does not have photoshop on it or any other program I need for that matter in managing my photographs. I feel so terrible about all this and I promise to make it up to any of you who are affected by this technical difficulty!

I also apologize to any of you who came to my blog in anticipation of my “new blog schedule”. That has also been put on hold for now until I can figure out a method that will work for me without my own computer. You guys are the GREATEST for understanding! If you have any questions about anything though, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Thanks,
Marissa

P.S. I was also in the middle of putting new photos on my website banner when all of this happened… and I only got to children, which is why there are only children photos in my banner. That will also change when I get a computer back to include families, weddings, seniors and babies!!!

The Matthews Family

I couldn’t let my time get away in Montana without taking some pictures of my sister and her sweet family. We had to be kind of creative with location since it was really cold and there was at least 6 inches of snow on the ground, but we made it happen at Times Square in downtown Great Falls where there were huge windows letting in awesome light.

A Winters Walk in Great Falls, Montana

The other day we woke up to a world sparkling in frost. It has to be one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen. The frost here isn’t just the thin layer I’m used to in Kentucky. It’s more like thick FROSTING. I knew I had to take the chance to get some pictures, so I took my nephews on a winter’s walk down the street. Even the simplest of things such as a mailbox or fence post looked stunning with frosting through my eyes.

On Tuesday I left my Kentucky Home (as well as my husband and sweet babies) to visit my sister in Montana who just had a baby girl- a younger sister for the two boys she already has. What a treat, huh? (more to come on that later!) As I was flying from airport to airport on my way here, I kept on thinking about some ways that I could make this blog a little more interesting to my readers. I wanted it to go beyond just sneak peaks- I wanted information packed posts and fun tid-bits- especially when it came to local places and things. A day in the Life: The Rowe Family

Toward the end of last year, I was approached by my wonderful friend Tressa to see if I could do a series of photo sessions for her that would document her family life. I thought- what a wonderful idea! So I woke up really early one morning and headed to her beautiful home, and then followed her family around as they woke up, read scriptures together, practiced their violins and did their chores. It was so sweet to see this large family of 9 (yep! 7 kids!) work together in such an orderly fashion. AMAZING I tell you. And I ended up loving their photos so much. I put together a little slide show for them to post on their new family blog and it was a perfect way for their far away friends and family to see what goes on in their home. Their afternoon and evening sessions will hopefully happen soon!

Here is the slide show- and don’t forget to scroll down after you watch for information on how YOU can have me in YOUR home to document your family!

I hope you enjoyed the little presentation! I loved this so much, and thought that you would too, so I am now going to offer this service as part of Marissa Noe Photography! Please let me know if you would be interested in something like this. I am in the process of trying to figure out pricing for this wonderful service. I want it to be something attainable for EVERY family because it is so important to document your life together, so your input would be greatly appreciated.  Your video will for sure become a treasured keepsake in your family as life changes and your children grow up- which they inevitably will!

Alyssa and Steven: happily engaged

I had so much fun with Alyssa and Steven! There is no doubt in my mind that they are absolutely perfect for eachother. I can see that their marriage will be filled with lots of laughter and sweetness. I can tell you that it is so fun to take pictures of a couple that are so head over heals in love!

February 4, 2010 - 5:01 am Jennilyn B. Landbeck - Beautiful work! I love how you have captured their smiles and love for each other. I am very impressed with your tilted angles-how it creates an intense and dramatic intimacy. Whoo-hoo! (Steven's oldest sister in Maryland).

Introducing baby Gabriel…

This session was a surprise gift to Andrea from her husband- she found out about the session the day she went to the hospital to give birth to Gabriel! Isn’t that awesome?

At 7 days old Gabe was so precious and tiny… and OH SO SWEET! It wasn’t surprising though because so are his parents! I really enjoyed my time with this family and loved the photographs I captured that day! Such a good natured baby.

Of course nothing beats cute little wrinkled feet!

While I was there I also got some shots of cute little Sophie- another very important member of this sweet family! I couldn’t get over how girly this dog was! Loved her. Just look at that face!

A Quick Family sneak peek

I hope they don’t mind the play on their name in my title! I’m sure they’ve heard stuff like this most of their lives… and with the last name NOE, I can completely relate. In fact, we were joking during the session about it all. There any numerous times when I’ve been asked “Can I get your last name?” and without thinking I just say “Noe” and they are thinking I’m telling them no! Well, I now know to say “My last name is Noe” and don’t think twice about it. Anyway, as I was looking through their photos today, I saw this picture and just COULDN”T resist to use it in this blog post!

It was a VERY cold day today… the highs didn’t even reach the 20s and yet this was a session we COULDN’T have rescheduled because almost all of the kids are from out of town! But that’s okay… they were very brave in the cold with the few shots we got outside and we also got some super good ones utilizing a few inside spaces!

Seth & Holly: The Wedding

Seth is my little (huge) brother. Holly is his beautiful bride. I can’t believe they are married now! Despite the VERY cold chill in the air and rain, you would think they would have been miserable… but these two had so much warmth in their love for each other. It was such a sweet wedding. Here’s a glimpse of their first look session and their wedding day!
