My little family was blessed to recently have our family pictures done by the talented Kasey of Kasey Mikelle Photography. To say that I love them wouldn’t do it justice. Thanks again Kasey!

I was just finishing editing this session and I just HAD to share this little story board of one very happy cute 7 month old! I’m so excited for all the sessions I have coming up for babies this age!! They are the sweetest!

March 9, 2010 - 3:13 am - Beautiful photos! I agree, that 6 - 9 month age range is just the best!

I am so excited about this you guys. I LOVE doing senior portraits! And guess what? It’s about time for all the high school Juniors out there to start thinking about them! The best time to get them done is over the summer- waiting until the last minute will only stress you out! So go ahead and schedule your session today and spread the word!
But WAIT!! How would you like the opportunity to earn free prints?
I am now looking for high school senior ambassadors for the Central Kentucky area. What does this mean? It means that you will represent Marissa Noe Photography and help spread the word about me to all of your friends! As my senior ambassador, you will receive star treatment at your photo shoot, and will receive lots of fun stuff to help you tell all your friends about me. Here are just a few of the perks:
So, what does it take to be a senior ambassador for Marissa Noe Photography?
-An outgoing personality
-A sense of style
-An OPEN MIND for fun creative senior portraits
-Responsibility and a commitment to work hard
How do you get chosen?
It’s pretty simple really. Just provide me with the following info, attach a recent photo of you and send them in an e-mail to:
<marissa@marissanoephotography.com>
Name
E-mail address
Phone number
High School you are graduating from
Extra-curricular activities
Once I recieve your application, I will send you a link to a questionaire and we’ll proceed from there!
I am looking for about 2-3 high school seniors from each school - male and female. Once I have chosen my Ambassadors, we will have a meeting and you will be given all the information you need to get started and schedule your session!
I look forward to hearing from you and having you as part of the MNP team!

It’s always a little nerve wrecking to take pictures for another photographer- especially when it’s one you admire and look up to. It does, however, make things a little bit easier when it’s a good friend you’ve known for forever and who is just so naturally beautiful that it’s impossible to take a bad picture! Such is the case with Kasey- I’m so lucky to be her friend and so glad she trusted me to take these pictures of her. You know, us photographers are always hiding behind the camera. It’s good to step out every once in a while to be in front of it instead.

I was also lucky enough to step out from behind the camera too! I’m not much for loving pictures of myself, but Kasey has the kind of talent that can bring out all the good features in people. That is why I am so excited about these- and that she will be taking my family’s pictures tomorrow!

March 6, 2010 - 1:51 am - Beautiful, ladies! All of the shots are gorgeous!
Newborns are sweet just the way they are- and I’m sure you’ll agree that it doesn’t take much to get these little cuties to be photogenic. I love to take pictures of babies just the way they came. In their sweet little birthday suits. But sometimes it’s fun to add a little something special and sweet.
My favorite newborn accessories are hats and diaper covers. Since newborns are so tiny, I find that any “clothes” swallow them whole and don’t show off their newborn cuteness as much. However, specially made hats and diaper covers are PERFECT. My favorite place to look for stuff like this is Etsy. There are wonderful artists out there who knit the sweetest little hats and bloomers! The best way to find your favorite is to just set aside some time on the computer to look and look. Here are a few of my favorite hats and sellers!

Another great idea for newborn baby girls are these adorable cutie ties made by my friend Kauti. She has an assortment of flowers and bows to choose from to attach to headbands, which she also sells.

February 27, 2010 - 3:50 pm - hey there i am! :) thanks marissa, you are so sweet :)
February 26, 2010 - 3:49 pm - These are so cute, Marissa! I love Etsy too. That is where I found the person who made my wedding dress. :)
February 26, 2010 - 2:11 pm - Those hats are great! They add some color other than the reddish/pinkish hue of newborns. :)
As I was contemplating a picture to use in my iheartfaces entry this week, I realized that hands have a major part in my photography. I just love the language of the hands… the subtle messages they send with their placement and touch. Here are a few more favorite hand photos that I just had to share.

(the above necklace signified a dear baby that this couple had lost)
This photograph almost needs no words. I remember this moment so vividly. Baby Z was having a rough time during his newborn photo shoot (turns out he was sick) so his father gathered him up in his arms to calm him. It was a moving moment for me as memories flooded my mind of watching my own strong manly husband become a soft speaking soother to my newborn children. It’s amazing- this transformation that takes place in our men when a baby enters the world. And for this first time father, comforting his child was all that mattered in his world. So much so that he forgot I was right next to him snapping away… covering the tears running down my cheek as much as possible with my camera. As the father wrapped his strong hands around Z’s tiny body, Z’s little hand found his daddy’s mouth and was greeted with a gentle kiss. Melt.

One of my most popular products for weddings are personalized guest books. These guest books are designed by me to fit your wedding theme/decor and are highly customized. Everything from the cover to the layout are all designed with your event in mind. Thing is, these can be used for any occasion! It would be super fun to have something like this at a baby shower or birthday party too.

Like I said before, we can design these any way you like. However, most of my customers choose to have the traditional guest book layout in the front and fun questions for your guests to answer in the back.

You could even include a space for you and your new husband to write a little love letter to each other on your wedding day :)

I typically recommend choosing at least 25 photos for the book. If you know before your engagement session that you will want one of these, we can customize photos specifically for the book. For example, we could take a picture of you holding up a thank you sign.
Here are some ideas of questions you could put in your wedding guest book:
-What is the best wedding advice you have ever received?
-When things get rough remember…
-What is your favorite memory of the bride/groom
-Why are bride & groom so good together?
-Give us ideas for date night…
-If we had a weekend for a short trip, where should we go?
-When did you know bride & groom were in love?
-Love is… (complete sentence)
-Guess when bride & groom will have their first child
-What will you remember most about today?
-Favorite qualities of bride/groom
-How to be the perfect husband/wife
-Where do you see couple in 5/10/15/25/50 years?

Imagine all the possibilities!!! If you are interested in pricing or details, please contact me and let me know!
February 20, 2010 - 3:28 pm - Lora, I feel the same way all the time! There are so many things I would differently if I were able to do it again- one reason why I will probably have a huge ten year anniversary bash!!
February 20, 2010 - 2:59 pm - I love being married, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I wish you could get a wedding do over. There are just so many fun things that people are doing!
When you book a session with me, you are basically telling me that you want me to help preserve your most cherished memories. No, I am not one of those studios that poses you and tells you to smile really big for the camera. To me, those photos do one thing- get a picture of you with your family all together. That’s it. Rarely are there genuine smiles or real interactions between the family members. That is why I focus on getting you comfortable in front of the camera and I let the little ones run around. I know those are really the pictures you are looking for- the ones that tell the story about what your child loves to do… how you felt carrying your first child… the love that exists in your family. Those are the stories I try to tell in my photography. If you are looking for someone to pose your family in just the right manner and tell everyone to look up and say cheese, than I am disappointed to say that I am probably not the photographer for you. But if you are looking for a fun laid-back type of photo shoot, then I’m it!
There are several ways to bring in your own personality into your photo shoot and add a sentimental touch to them.
1. Bring lots of clothes: I don’t give you an outfit limit, so bring a suitcase full of your favorite clothes and I’ll help you decide which ones to wear and how many we can fit in to your session time frame. If your child has a special princess outfit or super hero cape, bring that along too!
2. Props: When I say props, I am not talking about those free standing Greek columns. I am talking about items that mean something to you. Your child’s favorite toy, a special quilt, an antique wagon- the sky is the limit. If you want to bring your couch to the photo shoot, I’m all for it! These things will bring a meaningful touch to your photographs.
This family brought along a tea set for little Sophia and Sam’s favorite George and some balls. I loved this photo shoot because the children were in their element and completely themselves. Because of that, I was able to capture their very sweet personalities for them to remember forever.

How cute is this?!?

The next photo is very meaningful to me and the family I took them for. The jersey belonged to the father’s brother who had recently passed away, and the quilt was made by the mom’s mother who had recently lost a battle with cancer.

3. Have the session in your home! It doesn’t matter how big or how small your home is- or how cluttered you think it may be. I will utilize the inside and outside of your home to create some photographs you will treasure forever! Not only that, but everything that means the most to you will be right there!
Such a sweet scene… big brother reading little sister a favorite book on her cute bed. Don’t you just love the foot resting against the book?

In their large Japanese style bathtub! LOVE it!

This next family had so many cherished items to include in their photographs.

A few more…

4. Bring your creativity! I’m always up for fun new ideas! A picture of you and your family on your bed… in the middle of a field? Sounds great! Want to recreate something you saw in a catalog? That would be SOOOO much fun! I’m not afraid to try something fun and new so let me know what you think!
February 18, 2010 - 9:28 am - the photo with the grandfather and his granddaughter at the piano made tears come to my eyes!!!! i love it so much
